Thank you to all who joined us to support human services last week during the Living Wages, Thriving Communities Week of Action!
Last week, we boldly called on our state legislators to invest in human services and prioritize the sector in the state budget amidst constant federal threats to community providers’ funding. Whether you attended or tuned into our press conference, our Springfield testimony, the legislator phone bank or sent an action alert to your legislators, we appreciate you and all the work you do! Here are some highlights from the week:
- Held a press conference at the Irving Park YMCA to amplify the importance of the services the human service sector provides
- Called 38 state representatives in support of the Living Wages, Thriving Communities Resolution (HR0151/SR0123)
- Received press coverage from various media outlets including WBEZ Chicago, NPR Illinois WISU, St. Louis Public Radio, WIRF Rockford, and The Chicagoland Journal
- Testified in Springfield for the Human Service Equitable Pay Act, and received 185 slips in support of this legislation
