On Wednesday, February 26, Illinois Partners for Human Service and supporters of the Living Wages, Thriving Communities Campaign gathered in Springfield for a day of advocacy and action to urge legislators to support greater investments in the human service sector.

Kickoff of the Living Wage, Thriving Communities campaign in Springfield.

With so much happening, it can be hard to keep up with policy changes at the federal level which will impact the health and human service sector in Illinois. We are following the work of the Protect Our Care Coalition, Protecting Immigrant Families Coalition, National Low Income Housing Coalition to stay informed about the issues and ways we can support collective advocacy efforts. If you have a coalition that you are following, please share with us!

Living Wages, Thriving Communities is advocating for increased state funding for human services and pushing for wage increases for workers in the sector in Illinois. Our campaign engages frontline workers, human services organizations, coalition partners, legislators, and the public to push the State to responsibly invest in the well-being of all Illinoisans by fairly funding the health and human services workforce.

Thank you to everyone in attendance! Special thanks to Tionna Menzies (Case-manager at Anew: Building Beyond Violence & Abuse), Jessica Ortega (Resource Coordinator at Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living), Dara Munson (CEO of Family Focus), and Sherrie L. Crabb (CEO of Arrowleaf) for speaking at the rally and lifting up the voices of human service frontline workers across Illinois! We appreciate you-alls support!

Thank you to Representative Lindsey LaPointe (19th District), Senator Karina Villa, MSW (25th District), and Representative Maurice West II (67th District) for also speaking the rally and for your support with the Living Wages, Thriving Communities campaign.
