We are so excited to welcome to our new Policy and Government Affairs Intern, Kiera Eckhardt! Here is a brief interview to help you get to know her.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
My background is in Anthropology, specifically applying the methodologies of the discipline to real world socio-cultural and political issues. I am extremely passionate about advocacy research, and most of my recent work has emphasized U.S. and Latin American politics. I am currently working on my Master’s thesis at Illinois State University, with the working title of the project being “Universal Citizenship in Ecuador: Substantive Policy for Mitigating the Venezuelan Refugee Crisis.”
What you are looking forward to with your new role?
In my role with Illinois Partners, I am most looking forward to connecting our 850 coalition partners with up-to-date public policy information to further strengthen the collaboration of the health and human service sector. With a united and informed front, I believe we can accomplish so much this legislative session!
What is something unique about yourself others may find interesting?
I’ve been doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 8 years!
