This month the Illinois Department on Aging released EngAging Illinois: A Comprehensive Plan for Living Well.
The multisector plan sets a decade-long roadmap to support older adults and caregivers across the state.
The plan focuses on creating livable and connected communities, ensuring health for all ages, investing in caregivers, and making aging more affordable.
Our Illinois Partners team was honored to provide input and recommendations on reframing aging principles and language that center the experiences of older adults and promote equity across communities. This promising plan reflects a commitment to building an age-friendly Illinois, and we are excited to see it implemented across our state.
This work was led by many advocates from Illinois Aging Together, a campaign for aging equity, whose leadership and organizing were critical to bringing this plan forward.
