In November, the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) posted Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) addressing amendments to the Equal Pay Act, effective January 1, 2025.
These amendments require employers with 15 or more employees in Illinois to include pay scales, salary ranges, and descriptions of benefits and compensation in all job postings to promote greater transparency. IDOL will oversee enforcement and has the authority to adopt rules for implementing the law, though no proposed rules have been released yet. The FAQs provide initial guidance on how IDOL will interpret and enforce the amendments.
