As the veto session began, ICIRR members launched the Safety and Action for Liberation platform, calling for policies that protect all Illinoisans from the federal government’s attacks on our communities.
Together, they delivered a clear message: Illinois must act now to protect every family, every worker, every student – regardless of status.
More than 100 of ICIRR’s leaders went to Springfield to demand:
- Updates to the TRUST Act to stop data-sharing with ICE and strengthen protections.
- ICE out of hospitals, to ensure all people get the care they need.
- ICE out of courtrooms, so people can seek justice without fear of deportation.
- ICE out of early childhood centers and higher education, building on the Safe Schools for All Act
These are meaningful steps that the General Assembly and Governor can take to protect Illinoisans at such a critical, unprecedented time.
