On August 11, 2023, Governor Pritzker signed House Bill 3129 which amends the Illinois Equal Pay Act and will require employers with 15 or more employees to include in any job posting the pay scale and benefits for a position.

This new legislation goes into effect on January 1, 2025. If employers use a third party to post jobs, the employer must provide the pay scale and benefits to the third party to be included in the job post. The law also applies to internal opportunities for promotion. The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) is charged with drafting the regulations and monitoring compliance. The new law includes fines and penalties for each violation.
