October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and our coalition partners across the state are leading efforts to raise awareness about the impact on individuals, families and communities and to raise funds to support the wide range of services they offer.

According to the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV), one in three women, one in four men, and nearly half of LGBTQ+ people will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. According to Sarah Conlon, Interim President/CEO of ICADV, “Increased education about domestic violence can help communities build stronger networks of support for survivors, their children and those who cause harm.”

Events to raise awareness include presentations, clothing drives, walks, vigils, movie screenings, and much more.
