The Illinois Black Advocacy Initiative (IBIA) advocates for equity, opportunity, and justice for Black Illinoisans by expanding the capacity and power of Black-community focused organizations, constituency building, and advancing public policy and education.
IBAI was founded in 2021 by a small group of Black, Illinois leaders in response to the urgent need to create and advance a statewide Black advocacy agenda in Illinois. Since then, IBIA has released a series of reports and most recently co-led the Illinois Black Not-for-Profit Coalition -Day of Action to advocate for funding to keep Black community-based service providers in our communities.
