The Black Leadership Advocacy Coalition for Healthcare Equity (BLACHE) is a coalition of Black-led health-focused organizations in Illinois.
It works to identify and dismantle systemically racist policies and funding processes that have contributed to historical underfunding and even closure of Black-led organizations in the state.
BLACHE is led by Creola Hampton, who has particularly focused on how inequitable Illinois Department of Public Health funding is for HIV/AIDs related care for Black people.
Though Black women have the highest rates of new positive HIV/AIDs cases in, most funding in the state is funneled through organizations that serve predominantly white populations.
